Camí de sa Farola

The most urban lighthouse in Menorca

  • Complement the visit to the lighthouse with the promenade and a trip to Cala Sa Farola.

  • Pay attention to the wonderful view from the lighthouse towards the port of Ciutadella and the Castillo de San Nicolás, on the front shore.

  • El Faro sa Farola is just 1 km from Ciutadella and this makes it the one most linked to the city and the easiest to reach.

  • Construction began in 1861 and was completed in 1863, being the fifth of the seven that exist in Menorca.

  • It was built very close to the mouth of the port of Ciutadella and at a low height above sea level (21 m). For this reason, during days of strong waves, its facilities suffered the onslaught of water. To prevent this, a retaining wall was erected.

  • The visit to the lighthouse is complemented by the promenade and its viewpoints, as well as the beautiful Cala Sa Farola, of small dimensions.

  • We begin our tour of Menorca visiting this site that combines the most urban lighthouse on the island with an excellent promenade to Cala sa farola.
